Imagine a town hiring a hundred folks to dig for treasure nobody's ever seen, and after decades of empty holes you'd stop funding it. That's dark matter for me; the money could go to stuff we know helps. I am not sure how to argue more, but it feels like a waste.

I guess maybe you have a point that logic stuff gets tangled, and I honestly can't follow it enough to reply. But imagine a town paying diggers for decades with nothing to show; at some point you'd spend on roads instead. That's my gut.
