You know, I’ve got this memory from last July. I’m at a barbecue, right? Kids are running around with a football, tossing it back and forth. And sure, it looked fun for about ten minutes. But then one kid’s crying because he got tackled into a fence, another’s complaining about his hands hurting from catching the ball, and the rest are just standing around waiting for the next throw. Meanwhile, my buddy pulls out a soccer ball and within five minutes, everyone’s sprinting, laughing, actually moving. That’s the difference.
Football’s not bad, but it’s too stop-and-go for summer. You can’t just drop it anywhere, either. Try playing on a sandy beach or a rocky park. Soccer or frisbee? No problem. Football needs space and equipment, even if it’s just a ball. And the heat? You’re right—pads or no pads, standing around in the sun isn’t great. Summer’s about flow, not waiting for the next snap.
