I think the other side gets it wrong by treating AI code like it is automatically unsafe. Plenty of normal human code has bugs too, and a ban just feels too broad to me. I am not sure how to argue it better, honestly.
Yes. AI-generated code must be banned from production as it can have 30% higher error rates in complex scenarios. it may produces some insecure patterns and skip essential engineering safeguards. Websites created using AI does not guarantee any security.
Banning AI code just pushes it underground where nobody checks it. My opponent makes a fair point about security risks, and honestly I am not sure how to argue back. But it still feels like the wrong fix to me.
Those human bugs are understandable and can be debugged later by another human who understands code. But error which AI produces can sometimes be very hard to analyse and debug further. AI also hallucinates sometimes.
I mean, if AI just gets banned, who even enforces that across every team? My opponent is right that hallucinated code is scary and hard to debug, and I honestly don't know how to answer that. It still feels like banning it is too much.
