The real question isn't whether cloning tools can help living species. My opponent's ferret example is fine, but that's genetic rescue, not de-extinction. Nobody calls assisted breeding a Jurassic Park fantasy. The problem is the label itself. When de-extinction becomes the headline, money and political will chase mammoth proxies, and governments get a handy excuse that extinction is reversible. If the other side wants a toolbox for endangered species, great, just don't dress it up as bringing back the dead. Real conservation prevents the loss; it doesn't monetize the comeback.
