Here's the question that matters: who's liable when an AI song rips off an existing artist? That's the burden of proof problem no one wants to answer. Streaming platforms are built on licensing and attribution. An AI can generate a track that sounds like someone, but there's no clear "author" to hold accountable. You can't sue a neural network. So either the platform eats the liability, or the human who typed the prompt does. Neither is a legitimate, enforceable chain of ownership. Until we can define who owns and answers for the song, it shouldn't be in the catalog.

Outright refusing integration with AI for music is a mistake, one that will run rampant over people's works. But if we get ahead of the issue by setting up a system that tracks liability and fault specifically tailored for AI, that could be a successful step to integration.

A checkbox doesn't solve liability, it just hides it. And your copyright check can't work either: AI doesn't borrow, it imitates, and proving infringement requires intent and authorship, both of which are absent in a neural network. You said oversight prevents tainting culture, but oversight is exactly what's missing here. If the platform can't even identify who authored each track, it shouldn't be hosting them.

Another addition that could mitigate the damage is a user report or flag situation. An account posting music from an AI, MUST label their music as such. And that music must be audited when reports are made, with benefit of the doubt going to original artists. The mistake here, is acting like this is an ongoing issue that won't be addressed. We are early on in this, and if accounts do not follow terms- terminate. If songs are ripped off or sound too much like copyrighted content- terminate. There needs to be open discussion surrounding expectations, and without we end up exactly where the other user says we are. The only difference is that we can catch and address this problem early on.

You keep saying trace it to the user, but that's not accountability, it's just a name on a form. What is that human actually liable for? They didn't write the melody. They didn't intend to copy anyone. The neural network generated every note. So you're asking someone to accept legal responsibility for content they didn't create, under laws that don't define what an AI author is. That's not a chain of ownership. And your AI-specific liability system is an assertion, not an argument. The burden of proof is on you to show this system can exist, not on me to accept it as hypothetical.
