You say the cause could be a "natural process we haven't grasped." But natural processes are exactly what need explaining—they're the furniture inside the universe, not the explanation for the room. And your arsonist analogy misses the point: we know what arsonists look like because we've seen dozens. We've never seen another universe. A transcendent mind fits the one-off evidence; "mystery natural process" is just a synonym for giving up.
