Well they should be treated like criminals granted it is illegal. Feeling like something is harsh is extremely subjective, because I could argue the murder of an innocent human is harsh. Late pregancy abortions typically are gruesome, with common practices being the induced heart attack of the unborn child, by injecting posion into the heart of the child. Again if you are basing the harshness on devlopment then you can simply apply that to an outside scenario. Would it not be harsh for a mother to kill her infant because thats her personal choice? No that would be extremely unjust and unfair in any scenario, the same applies here.

I agree that simply saying it is biologically human isn't enough justification. However, your claim the women should have a bodily right to kill an innocent human hasn't been substaintiated either. The fetus has a moral and inherent worth, not because it is simply human, but because of its future capacity of thought, and contribution to society. Simply saying a women has rights therefore she can murder a child is illogical, because where are the violated fetuses rights? The fetus does use the mothers organs but that is because of a nautrally divine process. The fetus is still a seperate being from the mother with a unique code of DNA. Majority of abortions happen after the consentual act of sex, and if you get pregant as a result of that you need to inherit the consequences. It is the same as saying when I get into my car, I inherit the responisbility of vigillence, and if I get into a crash and its my fault because I choose to drive it is in my legal and ethical duties to provide reperations.

Again I think I made that clear with my analogy of the car, if a women chooses to have sex then she inherits the responsibility of having a child if she is pregeant. My opponent still hasn't justified why bodily automy overides a person right to live. The women consented to an act that led to her impreganation. While the women may have not intended on getting preganct because of her act she inherits that responsibility.
