Yes money does buy happiness because a lot of things require money . Furthermore to buy something you want or need would require money and if you don't have money you become less happier. For example if someone wants a new pair of shoes they would work until they get them . This gives them a great sense of happiness and joy. Which proves that money does buy happiness.

I agree money can never buy a genuine connection. However for you to find that connection you would need money. In cases like these we consider a factor such as transportation. For example I might meet a friend online and I would like to meet them in person. That would require money for transportation in order for me to see that person and that is money. Whether the money is for gas or public transportation. In most romantic relationships spouses prefer someone who is financially stable .
