Imagine a busy commuter who hasn't followed any races being forced to vote; they might just pick a random name to avoid a fine. That feels worse than letting people skip it. I get the other side wants turnout, but forcing it still rubs me wrong.

Yes this is where ignorance creeps in by making voting mandatory doesn’t mean forcefully asking them to abide by the law and when this law is passed that every person irrespective of everything must vote the vote education increases people start being influenced by such details and such cases of ignorance voting will be wiped just like the right to food, freedom and speech. Voting becomes a basic right if every human being meaning they have a voice in the political world

Forcing someone to care about voting feels wrong to me. My opponent makes a fair point that it reminds people of their rights, and I am not sure how to argue that. But my gut says mandatory voting just makes reluctant people show up and guess, which feels worse.

My opponent is mistaken about the fact that somebody is forcing people to vote. There is a difference between forcing someone and helping someone tonne Orr if the community for instance aren’t we all obliged to register ourselves and get a residence permit in the country we live in ?

Can you really call something a basic right if people are fined for skipping it? My opponent says mandatory voting makes it a right, which is fair, and I am not sure how to answer. But forcing people who don't care just feels like it creates empty votes.
