Imagine someone who committed a serious crime, like fraud that hurt a lot of people, still getting to vote on new laws. That just feels off to me. If you broke the rules that badly, you kind of lose that say.

I get where you are coming from, but an opportunity of being heard is a opportunity which is provided to every individual as a basic human right. A person serving his time is under the process of transformation and it should not be a situation where basic rights are denied on that grounds

Practically speaking, letting a felon vote while they're in prison means they get a say in running a society they're currently removed from. I guess that's the crux of it. My opponent makes a fair point about their voice mattering, but it just still feels wrong to me.

I do respect your opinion, A felon serving his time is his transformation journey designed by the system to make sure that every human gets a second chance to learn from their mistakes and be a better person, when the felon completes his time and is released, he is also a part of this society so it is his part also to develop a better, therefore voting rights for felons are also needed.

If someone is still paying their debt to society, why should they get a say in running it? I guess you make a fair point about basic human rights, but I just can't shake the feeling that voting is a privilege you lose when you break the rules that badly.
