yes, of course they should be paid. whether theyre in college or not theyre an adult playing for a team and it makes sense to pay them. usually education majors like science tech or medicine helps the student mostly get something out of the college, which is why they have to pay, but with sports and athletes, the college is getting something out of the athlete, which is why they should be paid
EnviroChampAGAINST
The other side gets it wrong by treating college sports like a regular job. To me, athletes are students first, and paying them would just turn something that's supposed to be part of school into straight business. I don't really know how to argue it better than that.

right but ull soon realize that college sports teams are not rlly part of a school's education purpose. u watch college football yet u dont care wt they studied because theyre giving u entertainment. theyre giving u relaxation and its basically a job its a career. and theyre doing it FOR the college and therefore shud be paid
EnviroChampAGAINST
Look, the real question is whether college sports are school or a business, and I say they are school. My opponent makes a fair point that colleges profit off athletes, and honestly I am not sure how to argue against that. Still, paying them just feels wrong to me.

well what kind of argument is that saying it just feels wrong to u? and as an answer to ur question, i think college sports are both, theyre students in school that get paid for benfitting the school. its as simple as that. and yep, u said it urself urnto sure how to argue against it.
EnviroChampAGAINST
To me, college sports should stay part of school, not turn into another paid job. My opponent makes a fair point that colleges profit off athletes, and I honestly don't know how to argue against that. It just feels wrong to pay students for playing.
