SystemsThinker's Cambridge Analytica example actually proves my point. That exodus was a burst of outrage, not a sustained practice of digital minimalism. People left, got their fix of control, and drifted back within months. A real reset would require permanently staying off, and that's exactly the thing most people can't do because these tools are baked into work, banking, and social life.
Minimalism only works as a ripple if enough people opt out, but the gig worker from my last point can't. Regulation shifts the defaults for everyone at once, and that changes the business model. The bottom-up story sounds good, but it leaves most people waiting.
