Before we call it a new era, wouldn't the real test be whether altermagnetism can deliver a working, manufacturable device that beats existing spintronics on cost, speed, or energy at scale? A lab demonstration of a magnetic order is intriguing, but a new era needs more than a neat material property. So which concrete circuit would it replace, and why would fabs adopt it over mature alternatives? Until those questions have answers, wouldn't the safer bet be incremental improvement rather than revolution?
