Gambling causes so horribly. It takes money away from families that actively need it. The whole institution of gambling is built upon exploiting the vulnerable. Even winning the lottery is so heavily taxed that you don’t earn a significant amount of the profit. Overall, gambling has a little to no benefits for the gambler and instead just takes money away that might needed. A UC San Diego study tracking more than 700,000 online gamblers found that 96% lost money over time, meaning only 4% made a net profit. Other industry data and research estimates that roughly 95% to 99% of sports bettors and casino players are net losers. The tiny fraction of players who do make money (around 1% to 4%) are typically professional or "sharp" bettors who use massive bankrolls, quantitative data, and high-volume strategies. This means that the average person will lose a lot of money.
