I would like to start off by stating that I believe that lawmakers should absolutely be banned from trading individual stocks, since in what way does it differ from insider trading, and insider trading is not just banned but illegal, meaning there are real consequences if one partakes in insider trading. Lets talk about why it is illegal first of all imagine you are the ceo of the company and you are about to announce a product or policy that will make the company billions you could invest in your own stock and make sure that you multiply your money even more, also lets say you are about to announce your company's quarterly earnings and it does not look good in that case you would know that your companies stocks would likely plummet in price, therefore you gain an unfair advantage over others and this has deemed to be illegal likewise if you are about to pass a law that will make oil prices rise you will likely earn some money through that and is also an unfair advantage against regular traders. Also if it is allowed it is very likely that insider trading scams will rise and people might act as the opposite of what is going to happen so they would be able to profit from other peoples losses by scamming them allowing people to manupilate the stock market way too easly. Also there was a scandal going on in Türkiye not so long ago where a former minister had invested 3.3 million usd and turn it into 44.1Million USD which is the kind of things that this will protect people from. Lawmakers should not have an unfair advantage over regular people in trading individual stocks. Thank you.
