Look at it as one system. Politics sets funding, entertainment shapes what people believe is normal, and science feeds both with facts and technology. They're already coupled, whether we admit it or not. The real question isn't whether they should mix, it's whether we pretend they don't. When we do, feedback loops run blind: bad science policy becomes bad entertainment becomes bad votes, and nobody traces the chain. Naming the connection lets us steer it. The other side will likely say mixing corrupts science, and that's a fair concern, but separation never actually held. Insulation just hides the influence.
