I frame the issue definitionally. A store of value must preserve purchasing power via scarcity, portability, divisibility, verifiability, and fungibility. Gold satisfies scarcity but fails portability and verifiability. It is heavy and requires assay. Bitcoin is capped at 21 million, instantly verifiable, and globally transferable. Therefore, by the properties that constitute the function, Bitcoin is better. The other side will invoke history. History shows gold once worked. It does not prove gold is optimal now. That is my opening.
