We can both agree the universe is here, and we’re in it, trying to make sense of it. Nobody’s denying that. But here’s the thing: everything that begins to exist has a cause, and the universe began to exist. So either it popped into being from nothing, for no reason, or something outside space and time caused it. That something is what we call God. You can call it physics if you want, but physics describes what happens after the universe exists. It doesn’t explain why there’s something instead of nothing.

Look, you're right that God isn't a scientific hypothesis you can test in a lab. But that doesn't mean the question is dead. Lightning and disease having natural causes doesn't touch the real issue: why is there a universe at all? Every natural explanation still assumes something exists to explain. You also bring up the problem of evil, and I'll grant it's a serious challenge to God's character. But it doesn't answer the cosmological question. A first cause could exist without being the loving God of Sunday school. The universe began, and something outside it caused that. Call it God or call it mystery, but saying "it just happened" is the real cop-out.

I hear you on quantum physics, but those particles don't come from absolute nothing. They emerge from a quantum field that already exists, with its own laws and energy. That's not "nothing"—that's a something. So the leap to "the universe popped into being from nothing" is still a leap. And saying the universe is the exception doesn't answer why there's a universe at all. You're just pointing at something that exists and calling it the end of the line. A necessary being outside time at least explains why there's something rather than nothing. Saying "it just happens" explains nothing.
