Social media has its problems, but the evidence also shows how useful it is. A 2025 Pew Research Center survey found that 74% of teens say social media helps them feel more connected to their friends, while 63% say it gives them a place to show their creativity. You could say that social media causes problems like addiction, misinformation, and mental health issues. That is true, but those problems usually come from excessive or harmful use. It does not mean social media as a whole does more harm than good. For example, 53% of U.S. adults said they get news from social media at least sometimes in 2025, showing that it is also an important way people access information. So I would argue that social media is a tool. If we use it responsibly, its benefits can outweigh its negative effects.
