Isn't it creepy to think that a stranger could be holding a recording of your private phone call, even if they didn't mean to get it? That data still describes your life. If someone accidentally grabbed your mail, they'd have to give it back. Deleting this data is just returning what was never theirs.

What gives anyone the right to keep something that was never meant for them? Just because a mistake happened doesn't mean that mistake becomes their property. Those recordings are still someone's private life, and holding onto them after realizing the error is no different than keeping a wrongly delivered package.

I get that mistakes happen, and nobody sets out to grab private calls. But once you realize the data isn't yours, the only honest move is to delete it. Holding onto it after the accident is just choosing to keep something that was never meant for you.
