Take a tsunami hitting a coastal town; people pray, yet the water still kills everyone. If a god existed, you'd think that would matter. I just can't see it, and I don't really know how to argue further.

God is an omnipotent entity seperate from human struggles i don't believe In god through a religion i believe he's an infinite sea of energy from which everything came imagine knowning literally evrything you would not operate like a human even remotely the simple amount of information is far larger than anything ever could process an entity like that doesn't care what I eat when i eat who i have sex with but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist

I think the other side's mistake is treating gods existence as something you just assume when you can't explain things. Sure, maybe they have a fair point about proof being hard either way, but that still doesn't convince me. It just feels like a big guess to me.

I know it can feel like that because I'm asking you to believe in an omnipotent entity out of nowhere but look at creation and more precisely how stable things have to be for everything to exist does that mean i believe God personally did it ? Or for us ? No that's the thing u can't know what exactly a being of infinite power wants if it even does in the first place but what u can establish it's certainly a possibility In an ever expanding universe

The practical thing is, if we just accept a god exists without any real proof, then anyone can claim anything and we're supposed to go along. My opponent makes a fair point that it's hard to prove either way, but I still can't get past that. It seems like a guess.

Sure anyone can but do you not think we've grown past a point as a civilization where he can seperate the bad from the good because if someone is claiming their god is green instead of blue that's fine but if they're claiming their god justifies doing certain bad things then you know it's not right because God wouldn't ask that of you even Nietzsche an atheist acknowledged that the death of Christianity in the 1900s would lead to utopianism

I get my opponent's point that a huge distant entity might not care about us, and that's fair. But that's my problem: a god that vague can explain anything and proves nothing. Without something clear, I still can't buy it.

So maybe the problem isn't god but your need to have a clear perfect answer? Because let's say he doesn't ur fine because you never believed right ? And if he was he wouldn't be petty enough to exact some sort of revenge on you knowing your limited vision and i don't like religious people who impose their religion so what's left is you in need of an answer and it's either he does exist he doesn't exist or you don't know ur choice

The other side says a real god would sort good from bad, which sounds nice, but imagine a village where everyone sincerely claims their god wants different rules. That still just feels like people guessing. I can't argue better, but I'm not convinced.
