One lifecycle study found that with the current energy grid, lab-grown meat could actually emit more greenhouse gases per kilogram than conventional beef. That's a surprising fact, but it makes sense when you look at what the process needs: pharmaceutical-grade nutrients, constant temperature control, and endless sterile filtration. Until we have a fully renewable grid, we're just shifting emissions from cows to power plants. And even then, the infrastructure cost is enormous. As someone who evaluates medical evidence, I see a technique in its infancy being marketed as a fix, when we already have proven dietary shifts that cut emissions immediately.
