Look, I get why people are excited about AI art. The technology is genuinely impressive, and some of the images it creates are beautiful. But here's where I see a problem: awards are supposed to celebrate human skill, effort, and intent. When you type a prompt into an AI, you're not really making creative choices about composition, lighting, or brushwork. You're directing a machine that does the heavy lifting. That's more like being a client or a curator than an artist. Think of it this way — if I commission a painter to create something based on my idea, I don't deserve the award for their painting. Same logic applies here. AI art can exist and be appreciated, but putting it in the same ring as human-made work just flattens the whole landscape of what we're actually honoring.
