By terminating the life of a murderer, the number of deaths only increases and it brings nobody back. The moral slogan of "eye for an eye tooth for a tooth" has many problems, one of them being that by trying to cause suffering to an individual for the suffering they cause other people only adds more suffering to the table. Punishment should never be be prioritized over rehabilitation because it directly takes away the dignity of a human and prevents a potential better person from coming out. Throughout history, the death oenalty has been enforced to prevent that person from doing more harm to the community but with the current prision systems that we have, we have no real need to cause the death of someone when we could just lock them for life
