Why shouldn't a library be open when someone actually needs it? A lot of people work weird hours, and it seems like a safe, warm place for them to go. I guess I just feel like books shouldn't have a curfew.

I see your point about safety, that's a fair concern. But a library with proper staff and security could actually be a safer place than being out on the street at night. I still think it's worth trying, even if I'm not sure how it would work.

Imagine someone getting off a night shift and just wanting a quiet corner to decompress before sunrise. You make a fair point about the travel and lost sleep, I really don't know how that gets solved. Still, I just feel like having that option would help somebody.

People have different ways of decompressing, reading being one of them but life matters, better safe than sorry. So it's correct to find another way of decompressing such as eating or dancing. Reading at night is also not suitable for people with certain medical conditions like sickle cell anemia which can stir up any time.

You make a fair point about medical conditions and safety, I can't really argue with that. But I still think a 24/7 library could help someone who just needs a calm place to wait out the night. Even if it's not perfect, it feels like a decent option to have.

If you are referring to public or private libraries far away from place of residence that can be too risky compared to home library. Going to public library at night may risks worker’s family, and personal life but if employees number is increased that will direct more funds to pay workers limiting development in other areas. Then, why to go to the library at night to destress while you know you are purely risking your life.
