Isn't it pretty basic to know who you're actually talking to? If someone calls and claims to be a real person, but it's really an AI, that's just deception, plain and simple. A quick heads-up doesn't ruin the tech; it just keeps things honest. That's all we're asking for.

this does not work in a lot of situations, in a lot of topics whether its an AI speaking doesnt matter compared to the topic at hand. In certain emergency conditions, the time taken by the AI voice to identify itself can prove costly. Identifying AI voices atleast at its present state is not that hard anyway and humanity will always find a way to identify the difference. If there indeed comes a day when the differentiation fades to that extent, that is the day we should dread.

Think about a scam call where a voice that sounds exactly like your bank asks for your password. If we know it's AI, we can hang up. Requiring a simple heads-up doesn't slow things down; it just gives people a chance to make an informed choice. That basic honesty matters.

enabling scam calls to upgrade to more human based systems isnt really a good thing in my opinion, AI scam calls are easy to differentiate right now without the need of the AI to identify itself..scam calls with a real human on the other side has a lot more casualty and we will just be enabling that

Even if it's easy to tell right now, that won't last forever. These voices are getting better every year. A quick "I'm an AI" doesn't cost any time in an emergency, it's just one phrase. It's about keeping trust in the long run, not making things harder.

1. scamming doesnt happen only through AI and AI isnt only used for scamming either and hearing "I am an AI" isnt data enough to conclude its a scam
2. I beg to differ, across history, humanity has always adapted and found new ways to differentiate and understand, and these types of predictions that humans will struggle to understand or cope have been continuously happening, for example maxim gorky in his essay 'the kingdom of shadows'
