Imagine a self-driving delivery cart signs a lease for a warehouse slot, then crashes into a shelf. Without its own legal identity, who gets sued? I think it needs a digital ID so responsibility isn't just a mess. That's my gut, anyway.

I don’t believe that any AI needs an identity, or a id card for identification. I say this because when you think about it why would you want to sue a self driving cart for compensation when it’s not making money for what it’s doing. And also why wouldn’t you think to sue the company instead, I say this because the company is the one making, and bringing these self driving carts out into the world is there responsibility. When the cart signs the papers for a lease whose signature would it be? It would be the company or whoever programmed the bot to go sign the lease

Honestly, my opponent makes a fair point about suing the company instead. But practical consequence: if an AI agent has no ID, how does anyone prove which agent signed what? I still feel a simple digital identity would just make tracking responsibility less messy, even if I can't argue it well.

I don’t believe it would make it less messier, I say this because when during a bot for something it has no control over it’s just doing what it’s programmed to do it lands all onto the company. And any logical company would have there labels on the bot, and have safe measures so that when they have the bot go sign a lease for then they know that it’s them

I think my opponent gets wrong that a company label on a bot is the same as an identity. A label shows who built it, not which agent agreed to what later. I get my opponent's point, but I still feel some ID would help, though I can't really explain why.

I believe your wrong because a company label directly leads to one person who made them, And how would they have a bot sign something if it doesn’t directly lead to someone. And also if you think about it all you have to do it ask the person who the bot signed the lease for, who is it and do you know anyway I can contact them because they need to pay for the damages that the bot they programmed to go there and sign a lease

Surprising fact: an AI can already move money and sign online with no name attached. My opponent says the company label covers it, and maybe that's fair, but a label doesn't show which agent agreed to what later. I still think an ID just helps.

What your saying is true but also your saying online, we are talking about a bot that it programmed to go sign papers at a warehouse not a ai doing something on the internet for you. And also giving an id to a bot that’s signing online papers have nothing to do with the argument we are talking about a bot running into stuff in a warehouse, and now they want to sue them

Fair enough, my opponent says this is about a bot in a warehouse, not online, and I get that. But my gut still says if it can sign and move stuff, some simple ID just helps tell which agent did what. I can't really argue it better.

Okay so what if instead of giving the bot its own identity, why don’t the bot just have the same id/ identity as the person who sent it or programmed it. It would be easier and also not a hassle to make a whole new identity for a bot that probably not gonna be the same bot working that job in a few years
