If you want to know why I believe the Catholic Church is the one true Church, start with one simple question: Which Church did Jesus Christ actually establish?
In Matthew 16:18–19, Jesus tells Peter, “You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church,” and gives him the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Notice Jesus says MY CHURCH, not thousands of independent churches teaching contradictory doctrines.
In Luke 22:31–32, Jesus specifically prays for Peter and tells him to strengthen his brothers. In John 21:15–17, Jesus commands Peter three times to feed and tend His sheep. Catholics understand these passages as establishing Peter's unique pastoral authority.
Now look at history. Christianity didn't begin with the Protestant Reformation in the 1500s. Around AD 107, St. Ignatius of Antioch, an early Christian bishop, was already using the term “Catholic Church.” The early Church had bishops, celebrated the Eucharist, practiced baptism, and maintained apostolic teaching.
In 2 Thessalonians 2:15, Paul commands Christians to hold firmly to traditions taught both orally and through letters. And in 1 Timothy 3:15, Paul calls the Church “the pillar and foundation of the truth.”
The Catholic Church claims historical continuity with the Church established by the apostles through apostolic succession, preserving the episcopacy, sacraments, and communion with the successor of Peter.
Does this mean every Catholic or pope throughout history has been perfect? Absolutely not. Judas was one of the twelve apostles, yet his betrayal didn't invalidate Christ's mission.
The truth of Christianity isn't determined by the perfection of its members, but by the authority of Jesus Christ.
So my question is simple: If Jesus established one Church, gave His apostles authority, and promised to remain with His Church until the end of the age (Matthew 28:20), where is that Church today?
I believe the historical and biblical evidence points to the Catholic Church. Not because Catholics are better than other Christians, but because I believe it preserves the fullness of the faith Christ entrusted to His apostles.
