Even if the companies replace software developers with AI, there has to be a person or two to overlook or promt the AI. It's not as if they r taking all the jobs out of nowhere.

I think the other side forgets that coding isn't just about typing lines, it's about understanding the messy real-world problems behind them. AI can't really grasp that context, and that feels like it matters a lot. Though honestly, I'm not sure how to argue back.

AI is always learning from experience, even if in the present it cannot grasp the messy problems, I am sure it will be possible given how they r developing. The argument is not about whether AI can or cannot. It's about if it's ethical for companies to replace software developers with AI. Nothing is wrong in that if the job is replacing properly.

But isn’t there a difference between overseeing code and really understanding it? You make a fair point that someone has to manage the AI. Still, I just feel like losing those actual developer jobs changes something important, even if I can’t explain why.

If you cannot explain why or what important is changing, i cannot really back answer you. The point is, no job is better or lesser. So even if the software developers have their job replaced with a different job, it's ethical.

Even if AI gets smarter someday, there’s something about real people counting on a steady career that still worries me. You’re right that someone has to manage the AI, but I just can’t shake the feeling we’re losing something valuable when companies swap developers for a tool.
