I get why autotune can sound lazy when it's cranked up. But I think it's just a tool, like reverb or a distortion pedal. Used lightly, it can help a singer fit a song without hiding everything. That's my gut take, anyway.

Fun fact, pitch correction started in the nineties just to fix one stray note, not whole performances. Honestly, I'm not sure how to argue with you, that seems fair. Still, my gut says a small nudge is fine. Can't really defend it though.

Doesn't every generation say new tools ruined singing? I still think autotune is just a tool, and if someone uses it lightly it doesn't ruin anything. You probably have a point about overuse, but my gut still says it's not the software's fault.
