The other side gets it backwards: they count the feeling of control as safety. But every smart lock, camera, and voice assistant is another internet-connected door into your home. A single unpatched flaw or reused password can let someone unlock a door, watch your rooms, or jam your alarm from anywhere. Yes, cameras can catch a prowler, and that's a fair benefit. But a system that can be breached remotely turns your own house into the attack surface. Physical locks don't get hacked by someone in another country. That's the trade, and it makes us less safe.
