Yes they should, social media might be a source of fun, but what makes it unique is that it's more popular than any other source of fun and much more trusted, with social media you can talk with people that are far away from you, enjoy videos and masterpieces from others, and most importantly history and how the times of before social media were like, it is also what the current generation is offering us, gen alpha, gen beta.. social media is in fact so good that it has cured many people psychologically while they were in mental breakdowns, it is common and popular, and most of the world's main source of fun.

Social media is only a public utility, it's not forced, as I said before, social media is only a source of fun and if you don't personally accept that source of fun it's okay there is many other source of fun you can enjoy, yes social media can be websites and apps and not water and electricity, however social media is able to teach you how to get water and electricity, that makes social media even more useful, it is a place of fun and education, there might be things like schools but social media tends to be better teachers than schools, a great percent of the human population uses social media because of the versatility it offers, it's able to help in almost anything, maybe not actions but words, which is why it's a perfect public utility.

Well social media is also able to teach you how to be immune to vanishing from app updates, and even if it does vanish, it is reasonable to just install it again, social media is so much of a public utility that it's preinstalled in computers and phones, basically almost all devices have it preinstalled on your computer, almost nobody argues about social media being preinstalled into devices because they came to use social medias in the first place, nowadays not having a phone or any sort of device with you is like a death sentence in cities and urban worlds, because devices are the only way to access social media, social medias even bring job opportunities.
