Everybody should agree that computer with higher RAM probably would be much more usufull to track NASA rockets than my 20 years old laptop. So we should also agree that person with higher iQ is in better position to become scientist. We can just look at the results of studies which demonstrate that IQ linearly to certain levels correlate with amount of scientific papers produced. Additionally even when we compare people with IQ higher than 140 we still can find prove that these with hightest actually have higher scientific success.

If IQ really mattered most for scientists, all those high scorers would've cracked climate modeling by now. But research runs on persistence, curiosity, and collaboration, not a number. Meta-analyses show IQ predicts only a modest slice of job performance, and for creative work it shrinks further. Above a basic threshold, what separates a good scientist from a great one is obsession with a problem, tolerance for failure, and teamwork. A brilliant mind without those just writes elegant papers nobody can replicate. That's why I say IQ is a filter, not the engine.

I think they haven't yet cracked climate modeling now not bescuse they lack iQ but that just complicated topic even for them. Research run on curiosity collaboration and persistence however it not necessary mean IQ didn't work here also. When we compare scientists we can get results that these which work hardest are more curious are better than their colleagues but their colleagues and themselves have just hight IQ. Others things matter but they usually standing on IQ. Also curiosity correlate with IQ pretty tight. Additionally practically there isn't researchers which have average IQ maybe why don't examine all scientists in the word nonetheless we have data about students of universities and most often they have IQ highter than average and we can't think about scientists without official education.

That RAM analogy ignores that science runs on teams, replication, and grit. Above a threshold, obsession with the problem and tolerance for failure drive breakthroughs. A high-IQ lone wolf without persistence just adds noise. IQ is a useful filter, not the main event.

Yeah it is like arguing that liver is only filter in our organism. Data collection actually is genius contest every scientist participate in this contents making overall progress. I m not saying that Terence Tao can solve all mathematic, I m saying Terence Tao has been giving great contribution to mathematic. Do you think average person can achieve Fields medal? And you actually attacking straw man, I m not saying IQ is everything in scientists I m saying IQ matter.

Your RAM analogy still treats science like a solo processor. But climate science is a team sport. Thousands of stubborn researchers share data, replicate, fail, refine. Meta analyses put IQ at roughly 14 to 25 percent of job performance variance, and less for creative work. Above about 120, extra IQ buys almost nothing. You say curiosity tracks IQ, but drive and cooperation aren't just IQ by another name. They can be built. Plenty of high scorers never produce useful science. IQ is a gate, not the engine. Without grit, it's wasted wattage.
