Picture someone lying awake, furious at an estranged sibling, who prays instead of rehearsing the argument, then sends a message the next morning. My opponent is right that isolated studies of distant intercessory prayer don't show reliable physical effects, and I won't pretend otherwise. But that's one narrow test, not the whole question. Prayer changing the person praying is still change, and it spills outward: apologies get made, neighbors get checked on, tempers cool. Calling that only inner peace misses how inner shifts become actions. If we judge prayer solely by whether it bypasses human agency, we've defined the answer in advance.
