Science fiction should get checked against real science when it acts like real science, because otherwise readers can't tell a real idea from made-up magic. I get the other side might say it's just stories, and maybe that's fair, but my gut says accuracy still matters.

My opponent says the disclaimer should end it, but I think that gets it wrong. A story can still invite real science questions when it leans on real terms. I admit that is a fair point though, and I am not sure how to argue back beyond that gut feeling.
