Think about a regular student who works hard and gets no extra money. If colleges start paying athletes, it kind of feels like they're separate from everyone else. I don't know, it just seems like that could get messy.
The ones that study hard already have tuitions, if they don't have it they should focus more on their studies,
On the other hand it's a baer minimum a collage can do for a athlete that they somehow reward him for his work that he's putting in to put the college on newspapers
Think about a small college where the basketball team gets paid but the debate team gets nothing. My opponent makes a fair point about hard work, and I'm not sure how to argue back. It just feels like that splits students apart.
I think every moral collage would help out a mental club too, they say chess is a spot too, thus they are athletes too, chess and debating is in the same category, there for they are athletes too, so they would get paid too
The strongest reason against paying them is that it turns college sports into a job, and most students aren't paid for their activities. The other side makes a fair point about rewarding effort, and I can't really argue with it. It still just feels unfair to everyone else.
