So we're really okay with turning college sports into just another minor league system? The whole point of the NCAA is supposed to be about education first, athletics second. These athletes are already getting scholarships worth tens of thousands of dollars, plus top-notch coaching, training facilities, and exposure that can lead to pro careers.
Adding cash payments on top of that completely changes what college is supposed to be. It'd create a bidding war for 17-year-olds, destroy competitive balance, and let's be real - most of the money would go to football and basketball stars while everyone else gets scraps. The scholarship is already a fair deal.
