I think human embryos being edited should not be allowed because it is causing inhumane torture to the victim. Also, this may cause offspring to be wild or confused. The impact of this is great because if everyone did this soon it would bring the entire human population to an end because everybody may die. The probability of this is large because editing human embryos is unpredictable.

Isn't it dangerous to start changing embryos before we really understand all the consequences? I just think we're messing with something too fundamental, and once you start down that path, there's no going back. It feels like we shouldn't be playing God like that.

Imagine a child born with unintended changes because we thought we knew what we were doing. User123 makes a fair point that it's unpredictable. I still just think we shouldn't mess with embryos at all, even if the risks seem small. It feels like a line we shouldn't cross.

The practical problem is that any mistake becomes permanent for that child and everyone after them. User123 makes a fair point about unpredictability, and I can't really argue with the science. But I still feel we're not ready to take that kind of irreversible step with human lives.
