The other side has a fair case: a thoughtful critic can add context and help someone hear an album differently. But relevance means more than being interesting sometimes. In streaming, discovery runs through algorithms, playlists, and other listeners, and artists can speak directly to fans. Critics lost their gatekeeping power, so their takes are just one more voice in an endless feed. They can still matter to small niches, sure, but as a force shaping what people hear, they've been sidelined. That's why I'm against.
