I get why this idea makes people uneasy. Nobody wants to see sports become a pharmaceutical arms race, and the health risks are real. That common ground matters, because I’m not arguing for a free-for-all. I’m arguing for supervision.
The truth is, athletes already use performance-enhancing substances all the time, just without oversight. They get them from sketchy sources, take dangerous doses, and hide side effects. That’s what actually hurts them. Under doctor supervision, you get proper dosing, monitoring, and honest conversations about long-term consequences. You also level the playing field, because right now the rich athletes get clean, cutting-edge treatments while others rely on black market stuff.
We don’t ban dangerous activities in sports, we regulate them. Doctors already manage painkillers, surgeries, and even altitude tents. This is just the next step. It’s safer, fairer, and more honest than the fantasy that drugs disappear because we ban them.
