A fetus does not have the capacity for a conscious experience which is what I feel makes humans special, personal, beings that can have rights. The right to life cannot be granted to something that cannot have a subjective, personal experience. Therefore women should have the right to abort a fetus before it can have such an experience.

As for your analogy a person in a coma would have a capacity for a conscious experience (granted they are able to wake up) so it is not okay just to kill them. I'm not sure if the fetus double homicide is true in all states (I'm from the US) but that would be a legal thing and I'm hear to discuss morality. I would say that it would be more appropriate legally to to have it just be a single homicide. Now I would like to ask you a question if there is a braindead patient, they're NEVER going to wake up, is it okay to take them off life support and effectively kill them. I think you would say that's wrong since the patient in this scenario fulfills you're requirements of being alive and being human but let me know if I'm misrepresenting.
