Look, you're right that most zoos are inhumane money-makers. I'm with you there. The attack surface is huge - captivity stress, stereotypic behaviors, the whole system is compromised. But completely eliminating every zoo leaves zero defense for species that are already extinct in the wild. That's a single point of failure.
I'm not saying keep the current model. I'm saying we need to patch it properly - convert most zoos into sanctuaries, keep only the bare minimum for critically endangered species, and prioritize habitat protection.
