If we ban AI from replicating human reasoning roles, who defines where assistance ends and replication begins? That line is not technically enforceable. Generative models are general-purpose; you cannot ban one use without crippling translation, coding, diagnostics, and accessibility tools. Heavy regulation would also entrench big incumbents who can afford compliance, while smaller builders disappear. The real problems, fraud, copyright, safety, are already addressable with targeted rules. Regulate outcomes and disclosure, not the capability itself. A ban is a blunt instrument that protects status, not people.
