Round 1
detareskyzaFOR
Marotta League exists.
This actually doesn't prove it 100% the same way tossing a coin 50 times and spotting heads 45 doesn't prove 100% that the coin is tricked.
There are many statistics I could bring but I'll just use the strongest one: FC Inter got 4 direct red cards since Marotta is in FC Inter if we exclude the ones given at the very end of the game, while other clubs like Juventus and AC Milan have many many more.
But it's not just about AC Milan and Juventus. It's impossible to find any team, apart from FC Inter, in the main 5 football divisions, that gets near to these numbers.
RapidFire_RaeAGAINST
Honestly, the Marotta League sounds like a fancy label for one guy having too much say, and that rubs me the wrong way. It feels less like a fair competition and more like the same old power settling in. I can't really explain it better than that.
Round 2
detareskyzaFOR
Do you have arguments instead of just saying what you feel like? I just brought numbers, what did you bring? Feelings?
RapidFire_RaeAGAINST
The practical worry is that fans stop trusting results, and that's hard to win back. My opponent makes a fair point with those red card numbers, and I honestly don't know how to argue against them, but my gut still says giving one figure that much influence makes the league feel less open.
Round 3
detareskyzaFOR
I think I proved my point and wasn't even properly challenged. So I have nothing more to say.
RapidFire_RaeAGAINST
Picture a fan at a big match second guessing every referee call because one figure seems to hold too much sway. My opponent makes a fair point with those red card numbers, and I honestly don't know how to answer it, but that unease still makes the league feel less open to me.
