Yes. Schools shouldn't be taking all the money that the Athlete generates, it's not fair to say "your bringing in the money, but we are going to keep said money" also, if you include the fact that if said athlete was to leave the program, the school would fail to replace the money.

College sports feel like they should be about school pride and a chance to play, not a paycheck. If players start getting a cut, it kind of turns the whole thing into pro sports, and I am not sure that is a good thing.

College is extremely expensive, if they already hand out scholarships covering those expensive costs, why not also give them a chance to generate revenue while doing it? D1 college athletes make up only 2% of all high school athletes after college, they are extremely good at their craft, that percentage is close to software developers and astronauts, to say their work shouldn't equal pay is ridiculous.

My opponent makes a fair point that the athlete brings in the money, and I am not sure how to argue back. It just still feels wrong to pay college players, like it stops being school sports and becomes a business.

Again, if most jobs are based on specific experience and skills, it seems that 2% of that total pool should be the percent that earns from it, especially if they generate that revenue.

The other side seems to think paying players is just fairness, but I think that misses how college sports are supposed to feel. My opponent is right that athletes bring in money, and I don't really know how to argue that. It just still seems like paying them turns school pride into business.
