Yes money is the real winner of every election for citizens that do not value the betterment of society by voting for good governance. Some people gambles their vote for money without weighing the consequences of their actions. That kind of people must unlearn that kind of behavior as it posses potential for all cictizens on the state or nation.

I read somewhere that lots of elections get won by the side that spent less. That kind of surprised me. So sure, money helps a ton, but if it keeps losing, how is it the real winner? Maybe I'm wrong though.

Its nice that you hear that kind of news but where? it is seldom and rare situation. Look over the news, or your surroundings money circulates the decision and influences the people. It is as if they were inflicted by a disease of greediness. Unfortunately, sad and real world happpening is vote buying it is very prominent and in such cases those vote sells won. those who have more money to offer won that results into corruption, incompetent leaders.

I heard a surprising stat that in plenty of elections the candidate who spends the most still loses. My opponent makes a fair point about money buying influence, honestly. But if the biggest spender can still lose, money is not the real winner every time. That is just my gut feeling.

Well, your gut feeling might be wrong. biggest spender bigger chances of winning. In a world inflicted with poverty, what do you expect for those people. what chances do they have if they were offered by such big amount of money?

The question is not whether money matters, but whether it always ends up winning. My opponent makes a fair point that cash buys influence, and I cannot really argue with that. Still, my gut says voters sometimes ignore it, so money is not the winner every single time.
