Near future cities are our best shot at a livable, low-carbon life. Density plus smart transit and mixed-use zoning cuts emissions, housing costs, and commute times. If that weren't true, then endless sprawl would somehow be greener and fairer, which is absurd. Yes, surveillance and gentrification are real risks. But if we rejected every technology that can be abused, we'd still be dumping sewage in streets. The answer is better rules, not abandoning cities. That's why I'm for.
