Good evening, I hope you enjoy this debate and I wish you the best of luck. I hold the opinion that countries should not adopt completely open borders. I believe that this should be the case because evidence has shown that migration can grow faster than housing, schools, healthcare, and labor markets can absorb. In 2022, permanent migration to OECD countries, including the US, reached 6,100,000, a 26% increase from the previous year. Migration employment was sitting at 72.3% which shows both the scale of movement along with the need for careful intergration policies. Open borders may be ideally sound in theory, however, without limits governments loose the ability to match immigration with economic capacity and protect social stability.

We've also seen how badly, especially with the Biden Administration, migration can get. Undocumented immigrants have comitted crimes and went unpunished. That's not protecting our country, as should be done at the border, that's abandoning it. As I touched on before, Migration employment sitting at 72.3% shows both scale of movement, alonv with the need for careful intergration policies. Those policies were not made under Biden, rather under Trump. Trump enacted stricter border crossing protocols, enacted laws that kick out illegal aliens, begun the lawful deportation of illegals who entered our country without proper documentation, along with many other things. That is the limits to open borders that other countries need. That's how you protect social stability and match immigration with economic stability/efficiency.
