I hold the opinion that countries should not adopt completely open borders. I believe that this should be the case because evidence has shown that migration can grow faster than housing, schools, healthcare, and labor markets can absorb. In 2022, permanent migration to OECD countries, including the US, reached 6,100,000, a 26% increase from the previous year. Migration employment was sitting at 72.3% which shows both the scale of movement along with the need for careful intergration policies.
Open borders may be ideally sound in theory, however, without limits governments loose the ability to match immigration with economic capacity and protect social stability.
