Should old software be resurrected instead of replaced?

Surprising fact: a lot of old software only worked because of servers and systems that no longer exist. So resurrecting it feels like restoring a car with no engine. I get the nostalgia, but I still think replacing is simpler than constantly fixing the past.

The importance of old software still has value despite being the most of it unusable. It laid out the foundation of modern day software we can see now, for example, ATM, hospital equipment, and other machineries used in manufacturing products. Repairing old software instead of buying new ones would be a practical solution when looking at it cost-wisely.
