I believe that college athletes should be paid in order to let them be able to do their sport because without money, how are they going to survive? They need the basic necessarities in order to make ends meet. And if we want our children to be exercising and live a healthy life, we really, really, really need to value that and put money into that.

I get that college athletes work hard and bring in attention, so I see the other side. But to me paying them seems like turning college sports into just another pro job, and that feels off. I'm not sure I can explain it better than that.

I completly understand but there simple is no other way for them to surivive in a world like this. We need money to survive otherwise we Will have to stop praktikant out sports with in my opinion is a way worse alternative

I think the other side is mixing up needing money to live with getting paid by the college for playing. My opponent makes a fair point about basic costs, but plenty of students juggle school and work without a salary, so it still feels like a job to me. I'm unsure how to argue better.

While that is true, like it might not always be that it's needed, however I just think that the sport also should give a motivation to keep on playing. Like if you put in a hard work, you should get rewarded for that, like in the real world. If you work, then you should get a reward from that.

Think of a student on a full scholarship who already gets tuition, housing, and meals; paying them extra on top feels like getting paid twice. My opponent makes a fair point about costs, but I still feel college sports should stay amateur. I don't really know how to argue it better.
